Key ingredients for peak performance
Work ethic. Talent can only get you so far.
Stay humble.
Set your intentions.
Be prepared.
If you want it, you can achieve the impossible. Although you cannot control tomorrow, you can control your destiny.
Tips for yourself
Happiness is the alignment of what you say, think, and do in harmony. You perform best when your mind, body, and spirit are all aligned.
It’s important to be kind to yourself. Enjoy who you are and the successes you’ve had.
Always plan, move forward, and have other goals and aspirations in your life. Never put yourself down.
Set clear objectives for your day, and be proactive instead of reactive. Don’t leave anything to chance.
Set daily non-negotiables like having a morning routine, walking, or doing some breathwork.
Rest. Listen to your body because exhaustion is where bad decisions start to get made. You can easily confuse doing lots of work with being productive. Make sure you’re pacing yourself.
The importance of preparation
As Roman philosopher Seneca said ‘luck is what happens when preparation meets opportunity.’ Performance is driven by preparation, and unless you're fully prepared before you get in the ring, you're not going to reach your optimal level of performance.
The importance of surrendering
Eckhart Tolle defines surrendering as ‘giving up trying to understand, and becoming comfortable with not knowing.’
Being grateful for what you have right now will help wash away anxiety, grief, despair, frustration, and any negative emotions that create blockages and get in the way of what you're trying to achieve in life.
Doing that will help you find a sense of calm and think about the next steps you want to take.
Accept the fact that you’re a human being. You’re going to have feelings, emotions, and anxiety.
Don’t be a perfectionist- it’s a huge thing to be able to do on the path to performing your best.
The hardest thing for most people to do is to forget about winning, and focus on where you are. Winning is not a destination- it is something you strive and struggle for.
Tips for people who are chasing a dream
Be persistent.
Stay hungry. If at first you don't succeed, try again.
Reciprocity is important- seek first to give.
